T-Mobile Sidekick 2008 (I gave in)

Alright me being me I just had to put my hands on the new Sidekick 2008 from T-Mobile and Sharp. To make a long story short, outside the new 2 megapixel camera there isn’t much to discuss. The phone is smaller and lighter and really feels more like a cell phone rather than holding a PSP (referring to the Sidekick LX). You can switch the shell of the phone to customize it to your liking… I mean it’s not important for a feature but atleast it gives the owner a sense of individuality. You can create your own shell that T-Mobile will print and ship to you via sidekickshells.com or something like that.

The camera is really nice, they abandoned the flash but whatever, it doesn’t really matter. Cell phone pictures will always be cell phone pictures. The new camera really takes a crisp shot. The phone itself feels a little lighter obviously because it is… it has the plastic vibe goin on. I don’t really dig that but some people do. The screen is smaller than the LX screen but somehow displays a more sharp and clear picture. I guess it’s a better screen but smaller. I don’t know what the resolution is off hand sorry.

The bottom line… I don’t know if I’m going to keep it. It was only $200 but at the same time it doesn’t really do anything my LX can’t. I do like the shells and I like the camera a lot but there is nothing that is screaming at me to keep it. I got it to check it out. Sure it has the hype factor right now, and anyone who knows me knows I need the latest tech hype (along with my brother) but this seems pointless. Plus the leaked information about the NEW and highly anticipated Android phone from Google hitting T-Mobile at the end of October… for $200… yeah… I mean I would rather waste $200 on that.

Sorry Sidekick 2008, I like you but I am boxing you up and shipping you back. It’s nothing personal but I already own you in the LX.

The Dark Knight Returns, not really

Alright well we knew that this would begin as soon as it could but here is an excellent example of some great artwork and photoshop skill. An obvious fan of the new Batman series has gone ahead and created a teaser coming soon poster for the next (unconfirmed) installment of The Dark Knight.

I guess we can assume that everyone is banking on The Riddler being the villain for the next movie. Rumors are and have been floating around that Johnny Depp is in line to play the role. I think that might work out well considering Depp can do well in those deep character roles. I for one am hoping they bring The Joker back. I do believe no one will play him as well as Heath but at the same time I feel the character deserves another run. He is and always will be Batman’s arch nemesis.

In any event I look forward to seeing more and more fan based artwork and photoshops. I think this first one which is really making its rounds on the net can and will be mistaken for and official release poster. Imagine how sick the real one will be!

The Tony Hawk Sidekick LX

Update; I have just been informed that the Tony Hawk Sidekick LX has a secret little surprise. What is it? Maybe GPS? Maybe WIFI? Nope… The Tony Hawk Sidekick has “retractable wheels”. That’s right you heard it here, the new LX with “sweet grip tape feel” will have a set of small retractable wheels so you can play with your sidekick as if it were a skateboard.

What a fucking joke. Seriously… heaven forbid we get WIFI or GPS. Hell it’s only taken 4 years to get video. So what does Danger/Sharp do to really show us they are listening… they add wheels. GO FUCK YOURSELF. Get real! Who gives a shit? Honestly? Wow… my phone can roll on my desk. Can it get me out of the middle of the city while I’m lost… no but in the event I stop somewhere that has a table I can pretend it’s a mini skateboard. Ugh, what a joke. Way to throw money away at nothing. I need an HTC Touch Pro.

Here it is, just leaked to the net. What a load of crap… not even worth this post. Looks like crap and comes with nothing that the OTA for the LX won’t supply. What a waste of time. Sweet grip tape feel!

Sidekick “Gekko” & “Aspen”

Take this for what its worth but the people over at TmoNews are reporting that two new versions of the Sidekick will launch in the month of July. I tend to agree with the critics who say these will either be the 3G versions of the Sidekicks and or the Limited Edition runs of the LX and the Slide.

Hiptop 3 reported:

This is definitely one to take with a grain of salt, and there’s not really a whole lot of meat to salt! Tmonews is reporting that there are is a new device (possibly two) on the way in July. They say there’s evidence (but not what the evidence is) of a device named “SK Gekko” due on July 27th and a “Sidekick Aspen” launching on July 30th. Like everyone, we’ll have our eye on the FCC site to see what sort of info we can find on these devices if they are in fact real. Could this be the 3G Sidekick we’re all waiting for or maybe just limited edition devices? We’re putting our money on some new limited edition devices since the LX hasn’t had any Limited Editions yet and it would be silly not to offer those since they sell like crazy.

We are sure that Danger/T-mobile will be releasing a new version of the Sidekick Slide which will sport a new red colorway. Pictures of the new device leaked to the internet about a week ago. Personally I would love to see a combination of both rumors and grab a Sidekick with 3g and have it be a limited edition release. I hope they can do better than Mr. Cartoon and Juicy Couture. Only time will tell.

Jack Hearts God

colsdnspaaa.jpgSlackerstyle has always firmly supported up and coming artists, poets, visionaries, and creative thinkers. It is my great pleasure to introduce the Internet to Jack. Jack is a very interesting individual, a true introvert and yet given the proper setting he becomes the biggest extrovert in the room. Jack suffers from having a mind of his own.

Rare it is to delve into the mind of a young creator. Someone who presents the life he lives in raw form. While Jack doesn’t have much of an Internet presence yet, he has just launched an online journal and I encourage people to stop by and read his posts, poems, and rants. If you are a fan of artists like Luc Rioual then you will quickly be swept up by young Jack. He spends his time exploring this world, composing music for his Connecticut band Cold Snap, and truly enjoys people watching. Taking all of this with him, he compiles it into thoughts and demonstrates that age and size means nothing when expression of emotions is harnessed.

Take some time out of your day, give yourself a minute to strap on that old mentality you once possessed when you were young and angry, youthful and curious, and full of raw energy. With that frame of mind… I dare you… step into his world.
